Retrofit Library v1.9.0: On the other hand, Retrofit is a clean, simple, and light library for Android by Square, Inc . In other words, Retrofit is a REST client for Android, through which you can make easy to use interfaces which can turn any Android app into a powerful one. What makes it different is that Retrofit can perform Async and sync requests with automatic JSON parsing without any effort. Something I repeatedly hear from developers is that they switched to Retrofit because its “faster” than Volley. Is this true? Does this statement even make sense? As a matter of fact, Volley is often talked down among developers. Some developers are of the opinion that Google has yet again built, told everyone to use it and abandoned it. Heck, I have read/heard as much from a lot of developers I respect. I can tell you first hand, this is not true and Volley is being maintained. When it comes to libraries in Android development, seems like fanboy-ism is alive and well. Jake Wharton and Square Inc. libraries loom large!
